Reasons and Solutions for J1939 Cable Signal Attenuation
During the use of J1939 cables, signal attenuation is a common problem. If the attenuation is too severe, it can lead to data loss, command delay, and affect the normal operation of the vehicle's electronic control system. Many users blindly replace cables when encountering signal attenuation problems, but fail to find the root cause and cannot completely solve the problem. In fact, signal attenuation is mainly caused by three types of reasons, and targeted solutions can improve signal quality.

Reason 1: The transmission distance is too long, exceeding the rated transmission distance of the cable, resulting in natural signal attenuation. If the distance is too long, signal amplifiers can be added to compensate for signal attenuation.
Reason 2: Insufficient cable twist density or damaged shielding layer leads to increased signal interference, indirectly causing attenuation. Solution: Choose cables with standard stranded density and intact shielding layer, repair damaged shielding layer, and standardize grounding.
Reason 3: Conductor oxidation or poor contact can cause signal transmission obstruction and attenuation. Solution: Regularly inspect cable joints and conductors, clean the oxide layer, reconnect the joints firmly, and replace damaged conductors or joints if necessary.
In daily use, standardized installation and regular maintenance can effectively reduce signal attenuation issues and ensure the communication quality of J1939 cables.
