How to deal with some faults of J1939 cable

During long-term use, J1939 cables are prone to various faults due to losses in the vehicle environment and human operation, which can cause the vehicle's electronic control system to malfunction and affect equipment operation. Many users are at a loss when encountering faults and can only blindly replace cables, which increases maintenance costs. In fact, common faults in J1939 cables have clear causes, and mastering corresponding troubleshooting techniques can quickly solve the problem.

Fault 1: Signal interruption, often caused by cable breakage, connector detachment, or damaged terminal resistance. When troubleshooting, first check whether the appearance of the cable is broken or damaged, then confirm whether the joint is firm, and finally check whether the terminal resistance is normal. Replacing the damaged cable, re fixing the joint, or replacing the terminal resistance can solve the problem.

Fault 2: Signal distortion and packet loss, mainly caused by damage to the shielding layer, poor grounding, or damaged twisted structure, leading to increased electromagnetic interference. When troubleshooting, focus on checking whether the shielding layer is damaged and whether the grounding is firm. If the twisted structure is damaged, the cable should be replaced in a timely manner; Fault 3: Cable overheating, often caused by wire specifications being too small, insufficient current carrying capacity, or cable aging. It is necessary to replace the cable with a suitable specification to avoid overload operation. Regularly checking the status of cables during daily use can reduce the occurrence of faults.
