Installation guide for J1939 9-pin to OBD2 16 pin cable

1、 Preparation before installation

1.  Equipment inspection : Confirm that the vehicle to be diagnosed is a J1939 protocol commercial vehicle (with a 9-pin interface), the diagnostic equipment is an OBD2 16 pin interface, and the equipment is in a shutdown state;

2. Cable inspection: Check whether the appearance of the cable is intact, without any damage to the sheath, bent or oxidized pins, confirm that the shielding layer is not detached, and that the joint buckle function is normal;

3.  Safety protection : Ensure that the vehicle is turned off, disconnect the negative terminal of the vehicle battery (optional, to avoid the risk of live operation), and maintenance personnel wear insulated gloves to avoid static electricity interference.

2、 Installation steps

Connect the vehicle end: Align the J1939 9-pin female head of the cable with the vehicle diagnostic interface (usually located under the cockpit or inside the engine compartment), insert it horizontally, and confirm that the buckle is locked after hearing a "click" sound to avoid virtual connection;

Connect the diagnostic device end: Insert the OBD2 16 pin female head of the cable into the diagnostic device interface, and also confirm that the buckle is locked to ensure that the pins are fully in contact;

Power on: Start the vehicle first (or turn on the ignition switch to ON), wait for the vehicle ECU to complete initialization, start the diagnostic equipment, and enter the corresponding vehicle model diagnostic program.
