Common troubleshooting and solutions for J1939 9-pin to open end cable

Even with excellent performance, J1939 9-pin to open-end cables may still experience malfunctions during long-term use, and timely troubleshooting is the key to reducing equipment downtime.

The most common fault is communication interruption, often caused by poor pin contact or wire breakage. When troubleshooting, first check if the open end wiring is loose, and if so, re crimp it; Use a multimeter to check the continuity of CAN_S and CAN_L. If the wire breaks, replace it with a cable of the same specification.

Next is signal interference, manifested as delayed data transmission or an increase in error codes. At this point, it is necessary to check whether the cable is too close to the high-voltage harness (such as the generator harness). You can reorganize the wiring and increase the distance between the two to a certain range or more; If there is still interference, replace the J1939 9-pin cable with a shielded layer to enhance anti-interference capability.

There are also insulation layer damage faults, which are often caused by friction or high temperature aging. If the damaged area does not damage the wire, it can be temporarily repaired by wrapping it with insulating tape; If the wire is exposed, the cable should be replaced immediately to prevent equipment damage caused by short circuit.
