Although the J1939 to OBD2 cable supports plug and play, in the complex usage scenarios of heavy vehicles, correct operation methods and strict safety regulations can not only extend the service life of the cable, but also avoid diagnostic errors, equipment damage and other problems, ensuring the safety and efficiency of diagnostic work.

The operation process should follow the principle of "power off first, connect later": first, turn off the vehicle engine to ensure that the vehicle is in a power-off state, then align the J1939 end connector with the 9-pin diagnostic fracture of the vehicle, smoothly insert and clamp it, and avoid forcefully plugging or unplugging and damaging the interface; Then connect the OBD2 end to diagnostic equipment, GPS, and other devices, confirm that the connection is secure, and then start the vehicle for diagnosis. When disassembling, it is necessary to first turn off the equipment and vehicle engine, and then sequentially unplug the connectors at both ends.


In terms of safety regulations, it is strictly prohibited to plug or unplug cables while the vehicle is running or the engine is starting, in order to prevent instantaneous current surges from damaging interfaces and equipment; Avoid cables being squeezed or pulled by vehicle engines, pipelines, and other components to prevent wire breakage or loose joints. After daily use, it is necessary to unplug the cable in a timely manner, clean the dust and water stains at the joint, and store it properly in a dry and ventilated environment. If the insulation layer of the cable is damaged or the joint is oxidized, it should be immediately stopped and replaced to avoid safety hazards caused by short circuits.
